GENERAL CONFERENCE AT TEMPLE SQUARE

General Conference is an exciting time on Temple Square.  The Sisters anxiously await both member and non member visitors and always have a uplifting message to share with both visitors.  Those who don't get tickets for the Conference Center will gather in the Tabernacle and North Visitor Center to watch the proceedings.  It was a beautiful spring day for this Conference so many families brought blankets and sat on the lawns throughout Temple Square as they listened to the messages from Conference broadcast over the speakers.

To enable the Sisters to devote all their time to teaching on Temple Square the Midvale Utah Stake, Midvale Utah East Stake, Midvale Utah North Stake and Midvale Utah Union Park Stake provided all meals for all the Temple Square Missionaries (about 180) on both Saturday and Sunday.  We appreciate their very kind service.  All the meals were very tasty and there was plenty to eat.

After dinner on Sunday our mission met in Theater 5 in the North Visitor Center to listen to Alex Boye share his conversion story and sing a few songs for us.  It was an amazing and inspiring evening!! Another Temple Square Forever Memory.

Thanks to Midvale Utah Stakes for our Conference Vittles

A SPECIAL RELIEF SOCIETY

March 10, 2016

Our mission was invited to attend Relief Society today in the Relief Society Building on Temple Square.  Sister Burton, General Relief Society President, and Sister Reeves, one of her counselors welcomed us and taught us our lesson.

We all met together in the Presidents Room.  Along the wall in front of the room were pictures of past General Relief Society Presidents.  On the south wall hung pictures of past General Young Women Presidents and on the north wall hung pictures of past General Primary Presidents.

Sister Burton told us that the Relief Society Building was built by donations from sisters of the  Church.  Each sister gave $5 which was a great sacrifice for those who contributed because this happened shortly after the war.  Those who couldn't give money sent beautiful pieces of art from their personal belongings and these are now displayed in the room next to the President's Room in the Relief Society Building.  All sacrificed much and gave what they could to be a part of this great endeavor.

We all had an uplifting and spiritually strengthening time together.  At the close of the meeting Sisters Burton and Reeves shook each sisters hand or gave them a hug.

We all arrived early so we could enter together

Sisters chatted with each other and found other things to do while we waited for the doors to open

TEMPLE SQUARE LIGHTS THE WORLD

Our Sister Missionaries work hard each day to bring souls unto Christ. Each star on the board represents a baptism.  Ever so beautiful to realize that each star represents a Precious Soul on the path back to their Heavenly Father!

This bulletin board is based on a old movie “The Blue Vase”.  President Risenmay used it as a parable for missionary work.  The parable of the Blue Vase is about a young disabled WWI veteran, Bill Peck, who must overcome many obstacles in order to build a successful life for himself.  He is handed an opportunity that will either make or break his career.  If he accepts the job and pulls it off he’s on his way to success; if he fails, its curtains.  At every turn he is thwarted by two rivals who try to prevent him from becoming successful.  Using his own tenacity and wits to see him through he finally accomplishes his goal and wins the prize, a position as vice-president in the company.

Tenacity and Perseverance are two necessary qualities to accomplish missionary goals as well.  Our investigators are the Lord's investigators but instead of a blue vase the prize for our efforts to teach the gospel to our brothers and sisters is eternal life for them and joy for us as we help bring one more soul unto Christ.
