Santa Came Early!

Are we the luckiest mission in the world?  I'd say YES - especially after this week.  Not only do we live in the shadow of the Temple and have the privilege of being the Lord's missionaries, but we also have so many opportunities to experience many wonderful events.

The majority of the mission had the wonderful opportunity to attend the
Mormon Tabernacle Christmas Concert!

The music was fabulous, the spirit strong, and the guests were talented and heart warming.  The concert featured the Tony Award winning tenor Alfie Boe, venerated broadcast journalist Tom Brokaw, and the "Candy Bomber" himself, Gail Halvorsen.
You can read a summary of the event here!

The 1st & 2nd transfer sisters didn't get to attend the concert, but they were able to attend
The Forgotten Carols by Michael McLean!

It was a wonderful production and memorable evening.  We are so grateful for Michael and his generosity in inviting us to the performance!

Both performances were outstanding and we grateful for the chance to attend.  Thank you President & Sister Gillette for the opportunity!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

The lights are gleaming, children sometimes screaming, but the faces of the sisters are definitely beaming!  The holiday season has been a memorable one.  Sisters have sung splendidly in the choir, the weather has been decent, and the Christmas lights have been simply beautiful.  Since pictures speak louder (and clearer) than words, here are some for you to enjoy!

Announcing time!

Our choir has performed in many different places including the North Visitor Center and Family History Library.  What a talented group!

Where, Oh Where Have All The Missionaries Gone?

President & Sister Gillette sure treat us well!  This past week they arranged for the WHOLE MISSION  to attend the First Presidency Christmas Devotional in the Conference Center!  It was such a great experience and definitely got us in the Christmas spirit.

President and Sister Gillette also arranged for a BYU YSA ward to come down and take over the square while we were away.  They showed up looking sharp, had huge smiles, and seemed to enjoy their time in our shoes.

The Assistants gave them a brief Temple Square "crash course" on how things run during the holiday season, and then we just pinned some Host Badges on them and set them loose!

Pretty nice, right?  We thought so!

Just to be clear...this is NOT typically allowed on Temple Square! :)
...but aren't they a cute couple??

We really appreciate his help...but he'd definitely fail Desk Training!

Lookin' Sharp!

Now that's more like it!  He gets an A+ for Desk Protocol

We want to give a huge shout out to the YSA ward for their service.  They did a great job "manning the square" while we were away and we're so grateful for their wonderful work.

THANK YOU!
