A KEYSTONE TRANSFER

Oct. 8, 2015

Sister Wu accompanies Sisters Dean, Costa and Radamason.

Sister Poulsen had birthday treats for everyone who has a birthday in September.  Thankyou Sis. Poulsen!!

President Poulsen reminded us to make this a Keystone transfer.  In other words, use the Book of Mormon with our investigators and he also encouraged us to spend 30 minutes in the Book of Mormon each day.  We can read from front to back or while we read we can look for references to Jesus Christ and His atonement, look for references we can use with our investigators and even read to find answers for questions we have or our investigators have.  Read as an investigator or gain a testimony or strengthen your testimony.  Alma 32 tells us to regularly read and study the word.
President Loos talked to us about the empirical evidences or proof that the BOM was not written by an ordinary man.  In 1925 scholars began to look for evidence to answer the critics of the BOM.  He shared with us many of these evidences they found that confirms Joseph Smith could not have written the BOM without divine help.  He also suggested that when we ask investigators to read Moroni 10:4-5 to emphasize to the investigator that they must pray with real intent, not expect spectacular manifestations but look for the sweet, peaceful feeling the Spirit brings to us as a witness that what we are reading is true.  Then ask our investigator, if you read and pray and the Spirit testifies to you it is true, will you be baptized?  In other words, we must present the BOM challenge to our investigator and tell them it must be done with real intent and then a desire to follow through on the witness they receive by being baptized.
President Harman talked about having a firm testimony of the BOM. He read from the last two paragraphs of the introduction to the BOM and said that once we have this knowledge nothing else matters.  The BOM is the keystone of our religion.  If the BOM is true, Joseph Smith is a prophet, the Priesthood or authority to act for God has been restored and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church.  Critics know this and work hard to discredit the BOM because if they can get people to believe it’s not a true record then Joseph Smith is not a prophet and all other truths collapse.  President Harman referred to Ezra Taft Benson’s talk in October 1986 General Conference titled “The Book of Mormon, the Keystone of our religion”.  The BOM is a powerful tool given to us by Heavenly Father to use with our investigators.
